Belonging as an answer to restless sleep problems
Community rarely maintains itself through busy years. Allen’s faith-based guide argues for proximity, consistency, vulnerability, hospitality, and a circle broad enough that one relationship is not expected to meet every need. Sleep problems are not its focus, yet difficult nights often feel heavier when responsibilities are carried in secrecy and no one knows practical help is needed. Viewed from midlife, the book offers a deliberately communal answer to transition: invite people closer, ask before crisis, and build mixed-age relationships that can hold joy as well as burden. Its Christian framework is explicit, but its challenge to isolated self-sufficiency travels beyond it.
About Jennie Allen
Jennie Allen has described moving to a new city and intentionally building a close-knit circle rather than waiting for friendship to happen. Her own stories emphasize that community requires visible need, repeated initiative, and the willingness to be known imperfectly.
