Mindful presence on nights disturbed by night sweats
The wish to escape discomfort can become strongest when the body, schedule, and future feel less controllable. Kabat-Zinn presents mindfulness through short reflections and practices that bring attention back to breathing, sensation, walking, sitting, and ordinary activity. Night sweats may require medical assessment and practical treatment; awareness does not make a hormonal or medical cause disappear. For women carrying several roles at once, the book offers a different kind of support: notice the moment without immediately turning it into a verdict about the whole night or the whole self. Presence becomes a practice of meeting reality before adding fear, blame, or resistance.
About Jon Kabat-Zinn
Jon Kabat-Zinn trained as a molecular biologist before founding Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at a medical center in 1979. His unusual career joined laboratory discipline with meditation, giving everyday mindfulness a language that skeptical patients and clinicians could enter.
